My life reflects my thoughts. If I am happy and upbeat then I see opportunity and grace everywhere. If my day starts off with a mishap, then the whole day seems to follow suit. For most of us, life is like this; full of ups and downs with happy times and sad times. Why can’t it be happy all the time? I have some great news for you, it can. All you need to do is learn the art of being grateful. Whether you are seeking a higher spiritual level or just peace of mind, gratitude opens the door.
Gratitude can be defined as an acceptance of things just the way they are. Think about it; if you can accept things as is, then you can’t have any complaints. This acceptance creates the ability to attract what you desire to come to you. By replacing your old pity party thoughts with new thoughts of gratitude, you can change your life. For example, instead of moaning about the price of gas, be grateful that you have money (or credit) to buy gas and a vehicle to put it into. Instead of wishing you had more money, be grateful you have a job. Instead of criticizing your spouse, notice their good qualities.
As you become more at ease with thinking in terms of gratefulness, your life is going to change and amazing things will happen. All of a sudden, you start to feel better and have peace of mind. Your relationships change and become more exciting. Your health improves and you experience increased abundance. Everywhere you look you will see things through your new outlook called gratitude. Best of all, this outlook is contagious. You will inspire others to become like you.
This process doesn’t happen over night. It is something you need to practice consistently, knowing that the more you practice, the better you will get at it. It is like getting rid of an old habit and replacing it with a new one. Get a notebook and start jotting down all the things you are grateful for. Get excited about your list and make it your new best friend. Keep it close at hand and read it two or three times a day, adding new reasons to be grateful whenever possible. As well as reading your list, meditate on what you are grateful for at least once a day, so gratitude can become part of your everyday thinking. After all, the goal of developing an attitude of gratitude is so that you can live a happier life.
Peace, Love and Abundance,
